2003
ACR formed an F-hybrid program in which to establish more colonies of Biewer Yorkies with less health issues and better overall conformation and coat type by breeding with the Yorkshire Terrier. Germany has always allowed the same breeding process but have never seen the need to document dogs as to individual F-hybrid status. Somewhere along the line somebody felt the need to start referring to these as "Splitters" in other registries.

Other Information Associated with the Biewer Yorkie
The Biewer Yorkie was originally named the Biewer Yorkshire Terrier.
Name changed to Biewer Yorkshire a la Pom Pon by the Biewer Family.
Named the Biewer Yorkie by the BYA.
Named the Biewer Terrier by the BTRA.
Nancy Anderson posted the 1st documented History of the Biewer Yorkie in 2003 and corrected the errors of it being called a "mutation" by the Biewer family to it's actual genetic occurrence of being the Piebald gene.
2 years after Mr. Rolf Beckel died, Dagmar became the President of ACH-L.
Dagmar oversees the ACH-L that registers all other breeds of dogs - she is also the owner of IBC.
The AKC Nikkos bloodline of Tri-colored Yorkies trace back to the same Streamglen Shaun of the Biewer Yorkie.
Biro - the Biro breed name was formed from the 1st 2 letters of the breeders names. Birgit Rosner & Roberto Krah.
Biro was 1st registered with the ACH-e.V.
Donna Halls Biewer male, Decoration, was diagnosed with Liver Shunt. Donna Hall faded from the Biewer world when reports circulated that she bred the sister of the confirmed Liver Shunt affected Decoration. It has been reported that she sold the Sister to Decoration as a breeder, after she was asked to alter all siblings related to Decoration by the German breeder and waited until she was heavily bred to ship her to the new owner whereas the dog aborted the litter. She resurfaced when the BBCI was formed.
Jan Prosser & Helen Curran are the original founders of the BBCI, now the BBCA.
ABA - American Biewer Alliance
1st website on the Internet for Biewer Yorkies was from the 'Lightening Showboy" kennel owned by Birgit Rosner of Germany. The 1st United States Biewer Breeder to have a website was Nancy Anderson of 'Class Act Kennel'.
The ABC as well as the original Mi-Ki Club that Donna hall co-founded are no longer in existence.
Discrepancy in dates as it has been stated that a certain breeder became aware of the Biewer while showing a MiKi in Germany and is being accredited by some as being the 1st to import a Biewer onto U.S. soil but Mi Ki history states the 1st Mi Ki imported, registered and shown in Europe was early 2004.
If the Biewer Yorkie is not a Yorkshire Terrier as it's history tells by the Biewer Family then WHO crossed them and WHEN? Is Ms. Biewer aware that the BTCA is refuting the history and lineage of the Biewer Yorkie as told by both her and her husband? WHY would Ms. Biewer support a club who has said by genetic testing they have proved that the Biewer is a mixed breed dog and is not a purebred Yorkie? If this testing is to be believed then shouldn't the Championships of the Biewers highly regarded Yorkshire Terriers be stripped and the dogs removed from the Yorkshire Terrier database along with all of their offspring as they would of had to of been cross-bred dogs themselves?
The BYA - Biewer Yorkie Association was form as the BYA in 2003, has never been banned from any unbiased legitimate registry including the IBC. The BYA has never participated in any political or agenda warfare concerning the Biewer Yorkie. BYA is here to document, database/register and promote the Biewer Yorkie and that is their only purpose.
When Ms. Biewer was asked if they saw their Biewers as Yorkies she remarked: ""Well, it is a Yorky, only 3-colored".
Ms. Biewer was asked: How much black should be on the back? Her answer was: The back should be separated by it. This would be a BELTED or Tuxedo (*lower form of Piebald) dog and not a full piebald as a piebald is spotted where-as a Belted dog would have a type of Tuxedo appearance. All of the pictures ever shown of the Biewer personal dogs were belted and not piebald. The later occurrence of Piebald dogs may be the answer to where the bloodlines changed from that of the Yorkie to those of other breeds.
The Biewers also owned and showed Shih-Tzu's.
If the VDH had of accepted the Biewer's tri Yorkies for full registration and not wrong coloured the Biewer Yorkie would of never become reality.
The BTCA state they have over 100 Biewers tested and have proven they are a mixed breed dog and not the sole genetics of the Yorkshire Terrier. One must wonder if the history as presented to us is true, or if unscrupulous breeders over the years have cross-bred to get the pattern.
Mars Veterinary has detected using both the Wisdom Panel MX test, and other scientific analysis that all the Biewer Terriers submitted to us for testing had a similar, but distinct, genetic signature to the Purebred Yorkshire Terriers we have tested. It is not possible for us to definitively state with current knowledge and technology what (if any) other breeds than Yorkshire Terrier were present in the foundation of the Biewer terriers pedigrees and what gene (or genes) are causing the distinctive coloration seen in the Biewer terriers. All we can say is that Biewer Terriers share closest genetic similarity to Yorkshire Terriers than they do to any other breed that the Wisdom Panel can detect. The question of which dogs founded the Biewer Terrier pedigree is more a question for the Biewer Terrier founder breeders. All we can state is that all Biewer Terriers tested with Wisdom Panel MX contain a significant amount of signature match to the Yorkshire Terrier, often with minor matches to other breeds including in some dogs - Japanese Chin and Maltese breed signatures amongst others.
It is clearly a matter for the various global Kennel Clubs and Breed clubs to determine what is and isn't a breed in their eyes, and also to draw up the breed standards and qualifying measures to determine which individual dogs are considered to be members of breeds.
